Dimitar Bodurov, composition and piano • Marc Daniel van Biemen, violin • Hani Song, violin• Santa Vižine, viola • Joris van den Berg, cello

Amsterdam based pianist, composer and producer Dimitar Bodurov premieres his new work for piano, string quartet and electronica. Especially for the occasion he invited four distinct string players from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra – Marc Daniel van Biemen (violin), Hani Song (violin), Santa Vizine (viola) and Joris van den Berg (cello). The premiere is set to take place on the 25th July, at the 13th edition of RADAR Festival, Varna.

D-tonator is a study in tension—where fragile acoustic detail collides with controlled sonic rupture. Scored for piano, string quartet, and electronics, the project draws from the underlying instability of the present moment: geopolitical strain, algorithmic acceleration, and the uneasy boundary between human and machine. A constant movement between intimacy and impact. Delicate motifs fracture into pulses, harmonies distort under pressure, and organic textures are reshaped through electronic intervention. The result is a series of soundscapes that do not simply reflect conflict, but inhabit it—tracing the slow build, the breaking point, and the aftermath. By combining contemporary classical writing with electronic techniques, D-tonator aims to create a cohesive sonic language that is both formally rigorous and responsive to current cultural conditions.

The concert is supported by Fund Culture of Varna Municipality and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bulgaria.
